Car Parking

We have secured some VERY LIMITED long-term parking avaiable to our customers at the bottom of the village. This usually needs to be pre-booked, parking at the bottom of the village is in short-supply and we only have a small handful of spaces available to us. If you're lucky enough to find a space is available for your stay with us there is a £6/night fee payable in addition to the cost of your accomodation.

There is some limited parking available on the high street, although you can only stay here for 40 minutes which that gives you ample time to drop off & collect your bags. Traffic wardens do make frequent visits to Staithes both on and off-peak, we would strongly advise that you don't leave your vehicle in the High Street overnight as it is not unusual to wake up to a row of a dozen cars all with tickets on some mornings!

There are two car parks which are only 200m up the bank. We recommend the private car park, Glen Vale, which is slightly nearer to the village and cheaper at £5.00 a day (£35.00 for a week). It also has the advantage that you are able to to reserve your space when you go out. At busy holiday times it is essential to book space in this car park (01947 840590).

The main council-run public car park is situated at the top of the bank on the right as you drive down into the village. There are usually plenty of public spaces available here except in very busy times like Lifeboat Day.

There's a link to Glen Vale's website here:

Starting from the attractive market town of Helmsley, The Cleveland Way heads across the North York Moors, before reaching the coast at Saltburn. From here it passes directly though Staithes en-route to Whitby, Robin Hood's  Bay and Scarborough before ending it's 109 miles journey in Filey.

A small high quality restaurant with a friendly intimate atmosphere in the heart of the village (01947 841029).

The Royal George

A 19th Century Fishermen's Inn where you will find a cosy atmosphere, fine cask real ales, real coal fire, the best quality home-cooked food including locally caught fish and a warm and friendly welcome (01947 841432).

The Cod & Lobster

A recently refurbished old fisherman's pub, so close to the sea that in the past sections of the building have been reduced to rubble by violent storms. A family friendly pub with great views and food (01947 840330).

A highly regarded traditional and authentic real ale pub at the top of the village serving good freshly made food and with regular live music (01947 840200).
